A report carried out by IMIDRA confirms that AlgaEnergy’s products provide the best results compared to other agricultural bio-stimulants of reference

In a recent report issued by IMIDRA – Madrid’sInstitute for Rural and Agricultural Research and Development-, states that AgriAlgae® has proven to be at the forefront of the bio-stimulant products in the market

IMIDRA, a reputed and independent research center, has carried out field trials during 90 days focusing on increasing performances of melon crops by the usage of different bio-stimulants of reference in the market. In particular, the results of products including from animal origin (amino acids), from seaweed (Ascophyllumnodosum), and from microalgae (AgriAlgae®) were compared to a control treatment, with randomly distributed repetitions, statistical significance of 99% and following the recommendations of each manufacturer. The field trials carried out at IMIDRA’s facilities, demonstrate that the results of using AgriAlgae® are far above expectations, exceeding the ones obtained by the other commonly used bio-stimulants of reference, produced by well-known companies.

The most significant findings were the following ones:

• Increase in crop yields of23% (kg/ha), compared to the second best result

• Increasing quality, since looking at only first quality melons, the performance was 33% more kg/ha compared to the second best result

• Increase of the average weight of the product, which was 4.17 kg, 13% more than its closest competitor (3.69 kg)

• Increase in number of fruits by 14.7% compared to the second best result

"These results speak for themselves, but they are only quantitative," says Dr. Federico Witt, Production Director of AlgaEnergy. "We also had to verify the quality of the products obtained from the consumer’s point of view, and therefore, IMIDRA also carried out a blind tasting with 99 consumers. They have a hedonic panel for this."

"Again, results were outstanding," remarks Dr. Witt. "The fruits treated with AgriAlgae® obtained an average score of 7.5 over 10, compared to 7.10 of those in which no bio-stimulant product was applied, 6.60 in animal based amino acids, and 6.40 in the seaweed based product. In all, AgriAlgae® obtains not only an exceptional yield increase, but also provides outstanding qualitative results, guaranteeing extraordinary results in both fields."
