FP7

The ECLIPSE Project’s objective, which comes under the Seventh Framework Program (FP7) of the EC and is endowed with 5 million Euros, is the development of novel materials from waste. More specifically, the objective is obtaining an ecological tetrabrick-type container out of microalgal waste.

AlgaEnergy’s task is the selection of microalgae whose biochemical composition makes them attractive for the obtaining of lactic acid, as well as the strategic development of the valorization of the algal waste resulting from the process of separating lipids for the production of biofuels.

The ECLIPSE project is led by IK4 CIDETEC and relies upon the participation of several multinational companies (BIOPAC, FUTERRO, BANACOL, ANTARTIC and GALACTIC), together with European and Latin American first-rate research centers, including some universities from Spain, Belgium, Sweden, Germany, Colombia and Chile.
