ALGAENERGY, selected as a "success story" in the first Conference organised jointly between all the Spanish Technological Platforms from the Energy sector, under the title “CAPABILITIES AND STRENGTHS OF SPANISH COMPANIES: success stories of patented technological developments”. This overall Conference has taken place at the headquarters of the Spanish Office of Patents and Trademarks - OEPM-. As a representative of the bioenergy sector, ALGAENERGY has given a presentation centered on its own patent on biorefineries.

The CO2ALGAEFIX project has been presented in Bioptima 2013, in Jaen. Within the activities planned for the II Iberoamerican Conference on Biorefineries (2-CIAB), a special session on the CO2ALGAEFIX project has been held on Wednesday 10th of April, in which the valorisation of microalgae biomass has been discussed.

The consortium of the CO2ALGAEFIX project, led by ALGAENERGY, met in order to discuss the technical progress made to date and to specify next actions. One of these activities is the organization of the course "Culture and Valorization of Biomass" within the summer courses programme organized by the International University of Andalusia which will take place during the month of September in the Monastery of La Cartuja (Seville). The aim of the course is to offer students a complete, deep and updated vision of the latest advances in research, production and applications of microalgae.

CIEMAT, IMDEA ENERGY and ALGAENERGY have signed a Framework Agreement through which the three entities have created a Joint Committee to give technical and technological support to activities being developed in the area of production and valorization of biofuels and other value-added by-products from microalgae.
A representative of the EUROPEAN COMMISSION responsible for monitoring the LIFE projects, Ms Filipa Ferrao, visits the microalgae plant being constructed in Arcos de la Frontera (Cadiz) and meets with the consortium of the CO2ALGAEFIX project lead by ALGAENERGY, to review the progress of the programme.

ALGAENERGY and the SPANISH AQUACULTURE OBSERVATORY FOUNDATION (OESA) have signed a partnership agreement to develop the project "Aquaculture and Climate Change" whose objective is to assess the role of microalgae in greenhouse gas mitigation, mainly CO2, in those species that are grown in the aquaculture sector.

ALGAENERGY has received a second prize for the best initiative in the category of SMEs and Private Entities of the XIII Sustainability and Environment Awards, organized by Expansion, Garrigues and Wolters Kluwer, with the collaboration of Bankinter and E.ON. The recognition is given by the MINISTER OF AGRICULTURE, FOOD AND THE ENVIRONMENT, Hon. Mr. Miguel Arias Cañete, and has been collected by Juan Pablo Jiménez, Production and Sales Manager of ALGAENERGY.

Members of the CENIT VIDA project consortium (Iberdrola Ingeniería & Construcción, CT Ingenieros, Aqualia and the Architecture Studio Cervera&Pioz), visit ALGAENERGY's pilot plant (PTEM) to learn about the technologies used for microalgae production in order to discuss solutions for the BIOCITY.
